Even though Aaron Rodgers has gone on to play for both the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers, he is still most known for his glory days with the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers, now 41 years old, enjoyed many great seasons with the Packers. He led the team to a lot of success and finally played his first game against Green Bay during the 2025 season with the Steelers. The Packers ended up winning that game.
Heading into the NFL offseason, Rodgers is set to become a free agent once again. He played the 2025 campaign on a one-year deal with Pittsburgh. Now, the question becomes, will the Green Bay living legend play another season or retire?
At this point in time, it is widely expected that the future Hall of Fame quarterback will return for another year in 2026. However, there is a growing belief that he could make his return with a team other than the Steelers.
Keeping that in mind, the Packers are facing a potentially dangerous situation with Rodgers.
Green Bay Packers Facing Dangerous Aaron Rodgers Situation
Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr has made some bold predictions about the upcoming NFL offseason. One of his predictions would see Rodgers join Green Bay’s NFC North rival, the Minnesota Vikings.
“While it may be just a hunch, I don’t see Rodgers walking away from the chance to pass Peyton Manning on the NFL’s all-time touchdown list. And I don’t see Kevin O’Connell walking away from the chance to add meaningful depth to his roster,” Orr wrote.
“While Rodgers and Zach Wilson ended up not being the developmental bridge the Jets had hoped, McCarthy must realize he’s in a similar sink-or-swim situation and can take copious notes. ”
Seeing Rodgers return to the NFC North with the Vikings would make life more difficult for Green Bay. While Minnesota missed the playoffs last season, a big part of the team’s lack of success was due to inconsistent quarterback play.
Bringing in Rodgers for a season would fix that issue for the Vikings. Rodgers showed last season that he still has good football left in the tank.
What Would Aaron Rodgers Bring to the Minnesota Vikings?
During the 2025 campaign with the Steelers, Rodgers played in all but one regular season game. He completed 65.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Simply thinking about the idea of Rodgers throwing the football to Justin Jefferson would be a thing of nightmares for the Packers’ defense. He would also have Jordan Addison, barring an offseason trade, and other weapons around him.
With the Chicago Bears already becoming a Super Bowl threat and the Detroit Lions looking to have a strong bounce-back season in 2026, Rodgers making Minnesota a contender would be a very concerning situation for Green Bay.
Only time will tell if the Vikings do end up pursuing Rodgers this offseason. He reportedly had interested in signing with Minnesota last year. It would not be surprising to see the two parties revisit that option in free agency this offseason.
