The Indianapolis Colts looked like a legitimate contender throughout the first half of the 2025 NFL season. They were the best team in the league for a stretch of time.
Unfortunately, in the second half of the season, the team fell apart and ended up missing the playoffs.
A big reason for the late-season collapse was the torn Achilles injury suffered by quarterback Daniel Jones. He had been playing at an MVP-caliber level early in the year.
Heading into NFL free agency, there are a few major questions surrounding the Colts. Jones will have the ability to sign with another team should he choose to do so after Indianapolis placed the transition tag on the quarterback. Alec Pierce is also a free agent who is expected to garner major interest on the market.
With that being said, a new prediction has been shared about Pierce that Indianapolis fans won’t like to hear.

CBS Sports analyst Zachary Pereles revealed where he thinks Pierce will sign this offseason. He doesn’t see the Colts being the ultimate landing spot.
Instead, he believes that the Las Vegas Raiders will swoop in and steal the 25-year-old wide receiver.
“The Raiders need help everywhere, but giving presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza viable surroundings in his rookie year should be the top priority. Alec Pierce, 25, showed immense growth in 2025,” Pereles wrote.
“He led the league in yards per reception for the second straight season and became the first player with at least 1,000 receiving yards while averaging at least 20 yards per catch since 2019. In Pierce, Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty, the Raiders would have a strong young skill-position core.”
Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, Pierce played in 15 regular season games. He racked up 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 21.3 yards per reception.
What Is Alec Pierce’s Market Value Entering Free Agency?
After a major breakout season in 2025, Pierce earned himself a big pay raise. Indianapolis has known that re-signing Pierce would not be easy and he won’t come cheap.
Spotrac has predicted Pierce’s market value to be around $20.2 million per year. They have suggested a contract worth around $81 million over the course of four years for him.
Will the Colts be willing to pay that kind of money to keep Pierce in town? That remains to be seen. However, the wide receiver himself made it clear that he has earned the right to receive the best offer possible.
“I love Indy… but at this point, I’ve kind of earned the right to explore free agency. See what’s out there,” Pierce said.
Only time will tell whether or not Indianapolis will be able to keep its dynamic wide receiver in town. Should the Colts end up losing him, it would be a massive blow to their offense.
