Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is contemplating the next move in his NFL career, but wife-to-be Taylor Swift is clear about the direction of her career.
Kelce has yet to announce a decision on whether to retire or return to the NFL, which would require a new contract with the Chiefs. The future Hall of Famer reportedly thought about retirement last year before deciding to return, and said he is going through the same deliberations again this offseason.
While Kelce has not given a hard timeline for his retirement decision, Swift is forging ahead with her own career by announcing a major project this week.
Taylor Swift’s New Project Coming Soon
Swift is still riding the success of last year’s “Life of a Showgirl” album and announced a new music video this week. As Variety reported, Swift will be putting out a music video for the single “Opalite” later this week.
“Like with many reveals during the ‘Life of a Showgirl’ era, the singer posted a countdown on her website to the ‘Opalite’ music video,” the report noted. “Only this time, there was no ambiguity about when it would arrive, with her site stating that the visual will be exclusively made available on Apple Music and Spotify Premium on Friday, February 6 at 8 a.m. ET. Those streaming services will have the video exclusively until February 8 at 8 a.m. ET, when the video will become available to watch on YouTube.”
The song, which was the second single from Swift’s latest album, hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and has hovered around the top 10 for the last 17 weeks.
Travis Kelce Faces Career Decision Next
Kelce has not given many strong hints about his retirement decision, saying before the team’s Christmas game that he is putting a lot of thought into his next move.
“I think I’m still searching for those answers,” Kelce said in an interview aired on Amazon Prime Video. “Obviously, the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth.”
Kelce added that he needed to be on the same page as the Chiefs if he did return to the NFL for another season.
“I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for me,” Kelce said. I’ve got to hope that if I do wanna come back that the Chiefs are willing to bring me back. It’s a two-way street on that.”
Kelce later offered more insight into the decision on his “New Heights” podcast, saying he would only return if he believes his body can hold up to the rigors of another full season plus playoffs.
“If I think my body can heal up and rest up, and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21 week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat,” Kelce said.
While he is weighing the retirement decision, Kelce does have one big event coming up. He and Swift got engaged last year, with reports indicating the two will hold their wedding later this spring.
