Mike Vrabel has been in the news a lot as of late due to his scandal involving former NFL Insider Dianna Russini. And with that, the New England Patriots head coach has faced calls to step aside from his current role.

However, according to one NFL Insider, Vrabel is here to stay.

“I would say at this point, it’s definitely not in their plans to move on from Mike Vrabel,” Albert Breer said during an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub on Friday. “I think if you look at the actions of Kraft Sports, I think it has been a month now since the photos came out. Almost everything has been done in an effort to protect his employment and to protect his team’s image. If it’s just continued drips and drabs that kind of continue to fill in the blanks of what we already know, then I think the Patriots just ride it out.”

This all began after Vrabel and Russini were photographed at an Arizona resort, with speculating surrounding a potential affair beginning. Since then, numerous new photos and videos have been released as well as documents showing how long their relationship has been going on.

Patriots Players Are Rallying Behind Their Head Coach

Despite all the controversy, Patriots players are continuing to support their head coach, rallying behind him and publicly voicing these opinions.

Most recently, it was rookie Caleb Lomu who spoke about Vrabel during his introductory press conference at Gillette Stadium on Thursday.

With Coach Vrabel, it’s been amazing, the energy that that guy brings to this team,” Lomu said. “You can kind of just feel it.

“I haven’t been here yet, but I can already feel it and I can see it just out on the field. The energy that he brings, that’s what you want in a head coach, that’s what you want for a team, and that’s why I believe they went so far last year. Everything’s been awesome with him.”

Drake Maye is also among this group, calling his head coach “a great human being.”

“He’s our head coach,” the quarterback said (per the Associated Press). “I think he’s done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I’m just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready.”

During the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft, Vrabel was absent as he underwent counseling, spending time with his family due to the scandal.

With that, ESPN’s Peter Schrager reported that the team was in “constant contact throughout the day.” However, Patriots defacto general manager cleared the air on this report after the conclusion of the draft.

“So last night, you know, we kind of talked through things and made the decision that, you know, the time away really needs to be time away,” Wolf said. “So we were not in contact with Mike today other than some just ‘hope everything’s going okay’ kind of text early this morning.”
