It’s pretty good to be a Seattle Seahawks fan right now.
Unless, of course, you’re a season-ticket holder who got a scathing email from the team threatening the status of your 2026 season tickets.
That’s exactly what happened to a contingency of the team’s season-ticket holders ahead of Saturday’s divisional-round playoff clash against the division rival San Francisco 49ers.
The game will mark the third meeting between the two teams. The Seahawks won the Week 17 game 13-3 — a victory that won them the NFC West championship in addition to the No. 1 seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs — while San Francisco took a 17-13 victory back in Week 1.
Seahawks Send Stern Warning About 49ers Tickets
There’s no question the Seahawks want a packed Lumen Field for Saturday’s win-or-go-home matchup.
They’re even willing to go as far as sending a select number of their most dedicated fans a subtle message that if they are found to have sold their playoff tickets, especially to 49ers fans, then it could jeopardize their 2026 renewal status.
“Our records indicate that your seats for the upcoming Divisional Round Playoff game are currently posted for resale,” the team said in an email to season-ticket holders. “As communicated before the 2025 season, 2026 renewal eligibility may be impacted if it is determined that your season tickets, including any playoff games, were used primarily for resale purposes.”
It’s commonplace for some season-ticket holders to sell their tickets to certain games during the season and even in the postseason with the high demand for seats, especially from opposing fan bases.
It’s also not uncommon for teams to take radical steps to either incentivize those fans not to sell their tickets to opposing fans, or disallow it completely.
Seahawks Facing Backlash on Social Media
Though some on social media claimed the Seahawks planned to send out their email about tickets regardless of which team they played in the divisional round, some 49ers fans chimed in, stating the team was actually worried about their stadium being overtaken.
“They tired of seeing a sea of red in their stadium…. 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂,” one fan wrote.
“The Seahawk fans who want to resell their tickets should be able to. They bought them and they’re theirs. The fact that an organization is threatening them if they resell them just shows that they are [expletive] and scared,” a second fan stated.
“’Thank you for spending thousands or even tens of thousands of your hard earned dollars to purchase season tickets. However, this does not give you the right to do anything you want with said tickets.’ @Seahawks, are you serious??” scoffed another fan.
“It looks and reads like FEAR…. All it is…. The 49ers and the faithful will find a way in some psychological way does not benefit SEA… #FTTB #DoItFor85 #DoItFor54,” one user replied.
“They’re just afraid the Niners Faithful will invade Seattle and take away the homefield advantage their team is so used to having. Give me a break 😏 #FTTB #BeatTheSeahawks,” remarked another user.
