The 2025-26 season is just about over for the Chicago Blackhawks, and it was another tough year for the Original Six club. The Blackhawks currently have a 28-38-14 record and are at the bottom of the Central Division standings with 70 points. The only team with fewer points than the Blackhawks this season is the Vancouver Canucks, who have 56.
When noting that the Blackhawks are rebuilding, seeing them be one of the bottom teams in the NHL again this season is not surprising. They are still building for the future and have several promising prospects who have the potential to become big players for them later down the road.
While this is the case, the Blackhawks should still be looking to bring in proven talent this offseason. The Blackhawks need to upgrade their top six if they hope to be more competitive next season, and this is especially the case when it comes to both the left wing and right wing positions.
Because of this, the Blackhawks are now being viewed as a top potential trade destinations for one of the NHL’s top stars.
Chicago Blackhawks Named a Top Landing Spot for Senators Star Forward Brady Tkachuk
In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Adam Gretz looked at five potential offseason trade destinations for Ottawa Senators star forward Brady Tkachuk. The Blackhawks were among the teams that Gretz discussed as a possible landing spot for the 26-year-old star winger if the Senators shop him this summer.
“Given their draft pick capital and prospect pool, as well as the fact that they have plenty of salary-cap space and almost no major long-term investments, they should be in the market for any top-line player who might become available this summer. That would include Tkachuk,” Gretz wrote about the Blackhawks.
If the Senators end up shopping Tkachuk this offseason, the Blackhawks would be very wise to target him. He would give them a legitimate first-line winger to play with star center Connor Bedard, and the pair could make some real magic together. He would also give them a much-needed star power forward who not only contributes offensively but makes a major difference with his physicality as well.
Tkachuk, who is captain of the Senators, would also give the Blackhawks a great leader in their room as they work toward becoming a playoff team. This would be big for the Blackhawks, and this is especially so when noting that they traded their former captain, Nick Foligno, to the Minnesota Wild ahead of the deadline.
All Eyes Will Be on Brady Tkachuk During the Offseason
Questions about the Tkachuk’s future in Ottawa have come up, and there is no question that he would generate a ton of interest if the Senators make him available this summer. He is exactly the kind of player that every NHL team wants on their roster, so the Blackhawks would certainly have competition for his services if they targeted him this summer.
It will be interesting to see what the Senators decide to do with Tkachuk this offseason. If they ended up shopping him, they should get a major return for the star winger.
