Jurgen Klopp didn’t lead Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season at Anfield, but he has the Reds poised for a European trophy when they meet Sevilla in the Europa League final. Klopp, without bringing in too many new players, has instilled belief in his club to keep fighting until the last whistle.
Liverpool has been behind some of soccer’s most dramatic comebacks this year, including their quarterfinal rally against Borussia Dortmund. Now down to a one-game final, Liverpool are a slight favorite to knock off Sevilla and punch their ticket to Champions League next season.
Sevilla has won the previous two Europa League titles, but Unai Emery’s club have struggled in Spain. Bettors are left to determine whether Sevilla is truly out of form, or if they’re getting a seasoned champion at a discount.
According to Bovada the spread is a Pick ‘Em, with Liverpool favored at -140. Sevilla trails at -115, and the gap is even wider on the moneyline. There Liverpool is +135, while a bet for Srevilla goes off at +200.
Sevilla, who defeated Shakhtar in the semifinals, were not involved in the Spanish title race but have struggled in the past month nonetheless. The side finished seventh in La Liga, but reached this final as well as the finals of Copa del Rey. Liverpool may be in better form, but Sevilla has the talent to play with anybody.
Sevilla is going for a third straight title, but Liverpool is better than clubs they’ve faced in previous Europa League successes. Even without Divock Origi, Liverpool will find a way to win Europa League and end Sevilla’s run.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-2
Best Bet: Coutinho scores (+240)
