Pokemon Go Fest is currently underway in Chicago, but those outside of Illinois can still follow the event by watching Niantic’s official Twitch stream.

Niantic is now broadcasting coverage of the event on their Twitch page, and you can watch it in the embedded player. If you prefer YouTube to Twitch, you can also watch the event streaming live on YouTube here; however, Niantic does not allow the YouTube player to be embedded in this article. Pokemon Go Fest began at 10:00 a.m. Central Time, and it lasts until 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

Coverage of Pokemon Go Fest Chicago will be hosted by Rachel “Seltzer” Quirico, an esports host and interviewer. The event will also feature appearances by streamers and gamers Britanni Johnson, Kelly Link, and Brandon Martyn, according to Niantic’s Twitter page.

Pokemon Go Fest will be taking place on Saturday both in Chicago and around the world. A lot of the action will be centered around “challenge windows,” which will be between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Central Time, 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Central Time, and 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Central Time.

During the challenge windows, those in Chicago have to catch particular types of Pokemon in order to unlock specific bonuses for players around the world. For example, if they catch grass-type Pokemon, they will be unlocking Stardust bonuses. Players around the world during challenge windows are encouraged to catch as many Pokemon as they possibly can in order to extend the duration of those bonuses.

If players outside of Chicago catch enough Pokemon during the challenge windows, a legendary Raid Battle will unlock in Chicago at the end of the day, although it’s not yet clear what legendary Pokemon will appear. If Chicago players successfully beat this raid, a legendary will start appearing in raids around the world.

The “mystery challenge,” i.e. the legendary Raid Battle, will appear from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time, and so this is when fans can tune in to see their very first look at legendary Pokemon. The legendary will be available for everyone on Sunday and Monday, according to Niantic’s website.
