A number of huge bonuses are now available in Pokemon Go. So how long can players expect to make use of these bonuses?
The current bonuses in Pokemon Go will last until Thursday, July 24th at 5:00 P.M. Pacific Time, Niantic says.
The bonuses were originally going to end at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22nd. But on Monday, Niantic announced that they would be extending the bonuses a few more days, something that players everywhere were pretty excited about.
The bonuses went up in conjunction with the end of Pokemon Go Fest on Saturday, meaning that they will end up being active for five days. The bonuses are double Stardust, double Candy, double XP, increased Pokemon encounters, reduced hatching distance, and reduced buddy distance.
In theory, the idea behind Pokemon Go Fest was that players in Chicago were going to catch certain types of Pokemon, and doing so would unlock bonuses for players around the world. At the same time, players around the world would have to catch as many Pokemon as possible during particular challenge windows, and this would extend the bonuses unlocked by Chicago by up to 48 hours.
However, Pokemon Go Fest ended up being pretty much a complete disaster, with thousands of players in Grant Park not being able to play the game at all due to network and server issues. Because of this, it seems that Niantic basically just activated all of the bonuses anyway in order to appease players who were incredibly unhappy with what happened on Saturday. Although the Chicago event clearly resulted in a lot of upset gamers, the ensuing rewards ended up being pretty great for players around the world.
Of course, Pokemon Go Fest also led to the release of two legendary Pokemon, Articuno and Lugia. Although there has been some confusion about this, it appears that legendaries are going to be available in Raid Battles from now on, whereas it’s the bonuses that are only going to last until Thursday.
