With Halloween just around the corner, the world of Pokemon GO is becoming invested with Ghost-type pocket monsters. Even though Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are the most known among players, there are a plethora of other powerful Ghost Pokemon that are worth catching. Thankfully, it looks like trainers will get a chance to nab not only normal variants of these critters but shiny ones as well.

For the uninitiated, “Shiny” Pokemon are ones that have a different color pallet for that makes them appear unique. There is no inherent advantage or special moves they can learn as a Pokemon being “Shiny” is simply cosmetic.

These variants were revealed thanks to the client app which revealed the following icons below when downloading. Additionally, icons for a witch hat version of Pikachu, Pichu, and Raichu were unveiled. There is also a Mimikyu Hat for your trainer discovered which you can sport around as you hunt for these ghosts. Below are both the normal and shiny variants of the Ghost Pokemon Icons shown off on Pokemon Go Hub.

The Pokemon above are Sableye, Shuppet, Banette, Duskull, and Dusclops all are from the Generation 3 games. Keep in mind not all of these Pokemon are just Ghost, as Sableye is actually a Dark type as well. All of these announcements and leaks are clear evidence that not only Gen 3 is coming, but so is a Halloween Event.

If you weren’t around for the festivities in 2016, developer Niantic actually hosted a Halloween event that gave out additional candy for those who caught, hatched, or transferred their Pokemon. However, the event didn’t last long as it started on October 26 and ended on November 1, so one should expect this year’s spooky celebration to start around the same time frame.

Because of this, we highly recommend holding off on doing anything that would produce candy for your Pokemon. If there is a bonus you will want to make sure to exploit it so you can gain extras to help evolve or train your companions.
