Cimber and the Angels agreed on a minor-league contract Sunday. Cimber will report to Triple-A Salt Lake, returning to the Angels organization after he was released by the team July 23. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.03 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 24.1 innings in 28 appearances with the Angels this season. He'll look to hit the reset button against Triple-A competition.
The Angels released Cimber (shoulder) on July 23. Cimber was moved off the Angels' 40-man roster July 22 and was given the opportunity to find work in another organization after clearing waivers a day later. The 33-year-old right-hander had posted a 7.03 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 24.1 innings out of the Angels bullpen before landing on the injured list June 15 with shoulder inflammation. Once Cimber is healthy enough to sign with a team, he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league contract.
The Angels designated Cimber (shoulder) for assignment Monday. Cimber had been on the 15-day injured list while rehabbing a right shoulder injury but is now off the team's 40-man roster. The right-handed reliever has posted an unsightly 7.03 ERA and 19:14 K:BB over 24.1 innings out of the Angels' bullpen this season.
