Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cardinals. In just his second game back from a hamate bone injury he suffered Opening Day, Vaughn launched an Andre Pallante fastball over the left-field wall for his first long ball of the season. The first baseman had an outstanding finish to the 2025 campaign after being acquired from the White Sox, slashing .308/.375/.493 with nine homers over 64 games for the Brewers, but he hasn't yet gotten a chance to show he can repeat that level of performance.

Andrew Vaughn: Breaking News
Making return from IL
The Brewers reinstated Vaughn (hand) from the 10-day injured list. He'll start at designated hitter and bat sixth in Monday's game in St. Louis. Vaughn will be available to play for the Brewers for the first time since Opening Day, when he made an early exit from Milwaukee's 14-2 win over the White Sox after fracturing the hamate bone in left hand when he was hit by a pitch. He underwent surgery days later and was held out of action for about a month before completing a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville last week. Now that he's back from the IL, Vaughn will likely settle back into a near-everyday role while moving between DH and first base.
Due back from IL on Monday
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Vaughn (hand) remains on track to return from the 10-day injured list Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Vaughn is nearing the finish line in his recovery from the left hand fracture that has kept him on the shelf since March 28. He's already appeared in three rehab games for Triple-A Nashville, playing a full nine innings on one occasion while going a collective 2-for-11 with a double and a walk. Jake Bauers has been serving as the Brewers' everyday first baseman while Vaughn has been on the IL, but Milwaukee could open up steady playing time for both players by using Bauers at designated hitter or in the corner outfield once Vaughn is activated.
