Andrew Vaughn: Everything you need to know

Vaughn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals. Vaughn drew starts at first base in each of the last four games and went 6-for-16 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs during that stretch, bringing his OPS up to .934 for the season. The 28-year-old is locked into a full-time role against left-handed pitching, but his playing time versus righties may be more variable while Milwaukee has all of its key position players available and while Jake Bauers has produced a healthy .855 OPS versus right-handed pitching thus far.

Vaughn went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals. Vaughn struck out in the first inning but recorded three hits in his final three plate appearances. The 28-year-old has seen his playing time scaled back at times against right-handed pitching, but he's making it difficult for manager Pat Murphy to keep Vaughn out of the lineup. He's done nothing but hit since returning from a broken hamate bone suffered in the first game of the season. Across 59 trips to the plate in 2026, Vaughn is slashing .333/.424/.510 with six doubles, one homer, eight RBI, nine runs scored and a 6:6 BB:K. He's striking out in a career-low 9.1 percent of his at-bats.

Vaughn is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. It marks the third straight time that the right-handed-hitting Vaughn has been out of the lineup when the opposition sent a righty to the mound (Edward Cabrera, in this case). Vaughn is hitting .323/.462/.516 in 11 games since coming off the injured list, but Jake Bauers remains the Brewers' primary first baseman against righties, and Christian Yelich is filling the designated hitter slot.
