Juan Mejia: Everything you need to know

Mejia earned a save against the Rangers on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter over one scoreless inning. Mejia entered in the ninth inning with Colorado clinging to a one-run lead. He gave up a two-out single but managed to close things out for his third save of the campaign. The Rockies' closer situation has been as flexible as any in the majors this season, as four different Colorado pitchers have multiple saves. Victor Vodnik was the early leader of the committee, but he's struggled of late and was charged with three runs without recording an out in the eighth inning Monday. With that said, Mejia is certainly a candidate for additional save chances moving forward.

Mejia (0-3) was tagged with the loss in relief Friday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one inning. Mejia entered the game in the top of the ninth inning in a tie game, but he couldn't hold the score. Mejia walked Kyle Farmer and was later taken deep by Michael Harris, who launched his seventh homer of the campaign. This marks the fourth time Mejia has allowed multiple runs in his 13 outings this season. He owns a 5.87 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 2026.

Mejia didn't factor in the decision Thursday against the Astros, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning. Working as the opener ahead of Chase Dollander, Mejia couldn't even get out of the first inning after allowing RBI singles to Yordan Alvarez and Joey Loperfido. Mejia opened April with three consecutive scoreless outings, but the wheels have fallen off lately as he's allowed five runs across 2.0 innings over his last three appearances. On the season, Mejia's ERA has ballooned to 7.00 with a 2.00 WHIP over eight appearances and nine innings.
