Samuel Bachman: Breaking News

Bachman blew the save Sunday against the Mariners, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two over two innings. Bachman entered in the eighth inning with a one-run lead and was dominant early, retiring the side on just seven pitches before returning for the ninth. The right-hander was one out away from securing the save but allowed Seattle to rally with back-to-back hits that brought in the tying run. It marked the first earned run Bachman's allowed this season across four appearances (5.2 innings), but he's now blown all three save opportunities since being recalled in July of last year.

The Angels recalled Bachman from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. The 25-year-old righty will rejoin the Angels' bullpen as a replacement for Robert Stephenson, who landed on the injured list Saturday with an elbow injury. Bachman has dominated Triple-A batters to the tune of a 0.71 ERA through 25.1 innings, but he carries a 4.96 ERA through 16.1 frames with the Halos.

The Angels optioned Bachman to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. Bachman gave up one run in two innings during his appearance Tuesday, bringing his ERA down to 4.96 through 16.1 innings in the majors. He'll now head back to Triple-A, where he owns a 0.49 ERA, to make room for Wednesday's starter, Jack Kochanowicz.
