Spencer Torkelson: Breaking News

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Rangers. It was the quintessential Torkelson game, as he struck out in his other three at-bats outside of his home run Sunday. The slugger had a five-game homer streak toward the end of April, and he now has six long balls for the season. Torkelson is also striking out nearly 30 percent of the time, making him a very boom-or-bust fantasy option.

Torkelson went 3-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run during Detroit's 8-3 win over Cincinnati on Sunday. Torkelson extended the Tigers' lead to 5-3 in the seventh inning after blasting a solo home run off Pierce Johnson. Torkelson has gone long in each of his last five games, a complete turnaround from how he started the 2026 season, as he failed to go long in each of his first 22 games of the campaign. Tuesday's series opener against Atlanta will be his opportunity to extend his homer streak to six games.

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Reds. Torkelson extended his home-run streak to four games, which is the slugger's longest at the MLB level. He last went deep in four straight games during his sophomore season at Arizona State in 2019, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. This is also the first time any Detroit player has accomplished the feat since Ian Kinsler in 2016. Torkelson's surge has quieted some concerns over his slow start to the season from a power standpoint, as he didn't go deep once in the first 23 games of the year.
