Zachary Agnos: Breaking News

Agnos (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one over three innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Brewers. Agnos threw 57 pitches (33 strikes) in his second start of the season. He gave up solo home runs to Brice Turang and David Hamilton. Over 40 innings through 17 appearances this season, Agnos has a 7.65 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 28:16 K:BB. The right-hander filled in as the Rockies' fifth starter following Tanner Gordon's (hip) move to the injured list, but it's unclear if Colorado will keep Agnos in a starting role moving forward. This spot in the rotation is set to come up again in a road series versus the Athletics.

The Rockies recalled Agnos from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. Agnos will rejoin the big-league roster to provide extra bullpen depth as Tanner Gordon (hip) moves to the injured list. Agnos has performed poorly in the majors this season, accumulating a 7.78 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 37 innings.

The Rockies optioned Agnos to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. The move makes room on the 26-man roster for TJ Shook, who had his contract selected by the Rockies. Agnos has struggled on the mound as of late, having given up 14 earned runs over his last two outings spanning three frames. That has ballooned his numbers to a 7.78 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 37 innings this season. Agnos will work on his command issues in the minors and could return to the big club should the Rockies need more right-handed depth out of the bullpen.
