The proposed Bobby Lashley vs. Jimmy Ambriz bout that was scheduled to take place at “Strikeforce: Miami” on Jan. 30 has fallen apart.
Sources close to the bout informed Heavy.com early Saturday morning that, despite previously published reports from other outlets, Ambriz was never officially selected as Lashley’s opponent for the bout. The former King of the Cage super heavyweight champion was under consideration but was never finalized.
The search for Lashley’s first Strikeforce opponent hasn’t gone well. The promotion initially selected Yohan Banks to face Lashley, but the Florida State Boxing Commission felt that Banks would be considerably overmatched against Lashley and ruled him ineligible for the bout.
