Spike TV and the UFC were back at it again last Saturday night, counter-programming the “Strikeforce: Nashville” event on CBS with the replay of UFC 110.
The Spike TV replay brought in an impressive 1.4 million viewers, according to the network’s officials, and brought in a 1.0 household rating. But the more impressive number is the 1.4 rating in the demographic of men between the ages of 18 and 34, the most coveted demographic in the sport, which topped the live Strikeforce event.
The UFC 110 replay came just two months after the event was live on pay-per-view. The event featured a main event between fast-rising heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez and mixed martial arts legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The pay-per-view sales for the event came in at the mid-200,000 level.
The UFC proved once again that they can successful counter live events of rival promotions with exciting pay-per-views being transferred to free on Spike TV just months after the events.
