Ultimate Fighter Season 12 Tapings Are Underway

Season 11 of “The Ultimate Fighter” is wrapping up, and season 12 is on the horizon. The next season of the hit reality series on Spike TV begins today in Las Vegas, Nevada according to officials. The newest season features a lightweight tournament featuring 28 contestants and will follow the same tournament format as the prior season, utilizing the wild card that will allow two fighters a second chance at some point in the show.

The coaches for this season include UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and “Ultimate Fighter” alum Josh Koscheck. The American Kickboxing Academy member earned the spot opposite the champion on the reality series with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Paul Daley at “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II.” But Koscheck not only earned the opportunity to coach on the series against St. Pierre, he will also get a crack at the welterweight title after the season wraps up this summer.

The taping for the twelfth season begins today for the September 15 debut. This season, like every one before, will be broadcast on Spike TV and will be the first lightweight tournament since Efrain Escudero defeated Phillipe Nover to earn the title of “The Ultimate Fighter” in season eight. The finale for the upcoming season has yet to be announced.
