UFC Primetime Returns This October For Lesnar vs. Velasquez

Heavyweight champ and challenger will be featured in Primetime series

“UFC Primetime” is set to return this October to feature the preview of the heavyweight championship tilt between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez.

This “Primetime” series, like the others before it, will feature interviews, video segments, and much more in three different episodes that will air on a weekly basis leading up to the fight at UFC 121 in Anaheim, California. The first episode will air on October 6, with the following two airing on October 13 and October 20. All three episodes will be aired on Spike TV.

Lesnar last defended his heavyweight title at UFC 116, returning to the cage after a year-long absence due to injury. Lesnar battled through a first round beating at the hands of Shane Carwin to earn the submission stoppage in the following frame. Meanwhile, Velasquez was put on the shelf after a first round knockout at UFC 110 over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, waiting to meet the winner of Lesnar vs. Carwin. The American Kickboxing Academy product is undefeated through his first eight professional contests, with seven of those wins coming via knockout.

The event is set for the Honda Center in Anaheim on October 23. The card also features the debut of former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields against UFC veteran Martin Kampmann, along with a light heavyweight tilt between Matt Hamill and Tito Ortiz.
