McKenzie vs. Rocha official for September
A lightweight contest between Cody McKenzie and Vagner Rocha is official for September at “UFC Fight Night 25.”
The promotion announced the bout earlier today.
Famous for his guillotine choke, McKenzie has successfully pulled off his favorite submission in 10 of his 12 wins, including in his UFC debut against Aaron Wilkinson at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale.” Unfortunately for the Alaska native, he could not make it 11 wins by guillotine in his most recent fight, as he was submitted by Yves Edwards at “UFC Fight For The Troops 2.”
Unlike McKenzie, Rocha failed to pick up a win in UFC debut, losing to Donald Cerrone at UFC 131 in June. The loss pushed his record to 6-2 as a professional, but due to the fact that he filled in as a late replacement in the fight, the UFC saw it fit to give him another shot.
“UFC Fight Night 25” is set for September 17 in New Orleans, Louisiana and features a welterweight bout between contenders Jake Shields and Jake Ellenberger. McKenzie and Rocha will compete on the evening’s preliminary card.
