Long-awaited heavyweight rematch finally a reality
Verbal agreements are in place for a long-awaited rematch between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
The bout will take place at UFC 140 in Toronto. The event is scheduled for Dec. 10 at the Air Canada Centre.
Mir defeated Nogueira at UFC 82 in 2008, winning the UFC interim heavyweight championship. Mir looked impressive in victory, but the win was tempered in the following weeks when the world learned that Nogueira had suffered from a horrific staph infection during his training camp that sapped him completely of his energy.
Now, after defeating Brendan Schaub at UFC 134, Nogueira will get his chance to prove to the world that he can beat Mir.
Mir has not competed since UFC 130 in May, when he dominated Roy “Big Country” Nelson on the way to a unanimous-decision win.
