UFC 138 draws 1.8 million viewers Saturday night

Saturday night’s UFC 138 event drew 1.8 million viewers on Spike TV and had great success in household ratings. Among the male demographic of ages18-34 and 18-49, the tape-delayed event took the top spot.

The evening’s entertainment began with a stream on Facebook.com, and the main card kicked off with almost 1.4 million viewers before topping off at 2.1 million viewers in the main event of the card.

The event, which featured middleweight contender Mark Munoz‘s stoppage victory against Chris Leben, took place in Birmingham, England at the LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre.

Also on the card, bantamweight contender Renan Barao took another step towards the title with a devastating submission victory over Brad Pickett, while Thiago Alves earned a submission of his own to get back on track in the welterweight division. All five of the main card’s bouts ended via stoppage, making it one of the more overachieving cards in the promotion’s history.
