Pair Of Bouts Added To UFC On FX 1

Charlie Brenneman

Roberts vs. Brenneman, Sandoval vs. Denis added to UFC on FX 1

Two contests have been added to UFC on FX 1 today, as Joseph Sandoval vs. Nick Denis and Daniel Roberts vs. Charlie Brenneman are official for the January event.

UFC officials announced the news earlier today.

Stepping into the UFC cage for a second time, Sandoval looks to find the victory he failed to secure in his debut with the promotion at “UFC on Versus 6.” The loss was the first of his career and followed six straight wins.

Like Sandoval, Denis also is seeking his first UFC victory, though he has yet to compete under the Zuffa banner. At 10-2 as a professional, he enters this contest following a brutal knockout victory against Nick Mamalis this past October in the Wreck MMA promotion.

In the second contest to be announced today, welterweight Roberts finds himself in desperate need of a victory. After beginning his career with a record of 3-1, he now finds himself on a two-fight losing streak, including his loss to Rich Attonito at “UFC on Versus 4.” He likely finds himself in a must-win position.

But Roberts is not the only one in need of a win in this contest, as Brenneman also looks to recover from a big loss. After defeating Rick Story in one of the bigger upsets of the year at the aforementioned fourth installment of “UFC on Versus,” his quick run up the welterweight ladder was derailed by Anthony Johnson, who knocked “The Spaniard” out in the first round of their very one-sided contest.

UFC on FX 1 is official for January 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and features a lightweight main event between contenders Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller. The two bouts announced today up the total amount of contests for the card to 10.
