UFC Headed Back to Atlantic City for First Time Since 2005

Atlantic City, N.J.

UFC on FX 4 planned for June 22

The UFC will pay a visit to Atlantic City, N.J., for the first time since 2005 with an FX-televised event in June.

The promotion announced this week that UFC on FX 4 will take place in “America’s Playground,” marking the first UFC event there since UFC 53.

A venue for the event has not yet been announced for the card, but UFC 53 took place at Boardwalk Hall and had an attendance of 12,000 for an interim heavyweight title main event between Andrei Arlovski and Justin Eilers. Also on that card, Rich Franklin beat Evan Tanner to become the UFC’s middleweight champ.

The event will be the UFC’s seventh in Atlantic City, a city known for hosting major boxing events. The first three took place at the Trump Taj Mahal, followed by three at the Boardwalk Hall.

Though no fights have been announced for the card, the UFC has a large contingent of fighters from New Jersey and the surrounding tristate area. But just seven weeks prior, the UFC will hold another card in the Garden State with UFC on Fox 3: Diaz vs. Miller in East Rutherford on May 5. The promotion last visited New Jersey for UFC 128 last March.
