The New York Jets defense has been the highlight of its somewhat-surprisingly successful season. And it should be. Head coach Todd Bowles is a defensive-minded guy and Gang Green has always been dominant on the defensive side of the ball.
But, at least for this week, the focus needs to be on the offense a bit more.
New York has found a rhythm in the run game and that rhythm could run rampant on Sunday afternoon against a Washington Redskins defense that allowed 153 yards to the Atlanta Falcons Devonta Freeman last week. Over the first five weeks of the season, the Redskins have given up an average of 4.4 yards per run.
That’s an ideal situation for Chris Ivory. The Jets main running back is averaging five yards per carry and could take serious advantage of a seemingly exposed Washington weakness.
