San Diego travels cross-country for a meeting with the Jaguars, in an attempt to snap a six-game losing streak. OddsShark.com has the Jaguars listed as high as a five-point favorite for Sunday, even though the Chargers have won four straight meetings between these teams.

For Jacksonville, Sunday could mark a significant step forward for their young franchise. The team is just one game removed from the AFC South lead, and winners of three of their last four games. Last week’s win over Tennessee was the first time they’ve won consecutive games since 2013, and now they’re a favorite on the eve of December.

For San Diego, Philip Rivers will keep passing despite the lost season. The Chargers losing streak started on a last-second defeat to Pittsburgh, and it hit it’s peak last Sunday in a thirty-point loss to Kansas City. Rivers is still the league’s most active passer with 420 attempts heading into Sunday, but even he sputtered to 178 yards last week.

How rare is it that Jacksonville is the favorite? Jacksonville is favored for only the 4th time in their last 53 games, and they are favored in consecutive games for the first time since 2010. They’ve struggled against San Diego in the past, but have been a reliable 6-2 against the spread against AFC opponents this year.

The point total is set at 46.5, with both teams trending in different scoring directions. According to OddsShark.com the Jaguars total has gone over four times in their last six games, while the Chargers have gone under four times in the same span.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a 28.3 – 21 Jaguars victory.
