Having been bounced by Barcelona the previous two UEFA Champions League campaigns, Manchester City is keen to avoid European giants as they continue their quest for their first UCL title. So although the’ve already advanced to the Round of 16, City would like to secure it’s place atop Group D with a win over Juventus in Italy.

Moreso, City want a positive result to forget their most recent performance. The Cityzens were trounced by Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool 4-1 over the weekend, and watched Leicester City jump them in the EPL table.

Earlier this week, Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio acknowledged that City would have something extra following Saturday’s disappointment.

“We are playing a team that has suffered a very heavy defeat in the Premier League,” he told reporters. “When these things happen and they come to the next match, in the Champions League in this case, they probably want a backlash and want to react.”

If City want to react, they’ll do so without some of their biggest names. In the back, captain Vincent Kompany will miss the game with a calf injury. Up front David Silva, Wilfried Bony, and Samir Nasri will all be unavailable.
