The Jacksonville Jaguars fought to keep their season alive. They even went acrobatic.
Down six inside of two minutes remaining, Bortles went to the sidelines to big target Marquise Lee. Lee was initially unable to hang onto the ball, but adjusted himself on the ground to complete the catch.
The catch was huge for the Jaguars drive, but it wasn’t enough to keep them alive. The Jaguars fell to the Falcons 23-17, and are now two games back in the AFC South. However, they can still make the playoffs by winning out and beating Houston Week 17.
Lee has been quiet for much of this season, but this catch was ridiculous. The former USC standout has been outshone by both Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson this season, as part of a new-look Jaguars attack.
Even if Jacksonville fails to make the playoffs, the future is bright on offense. If Marquise Lee can match his expectations coming out of college, the Jaguars will have one of the league’s best receiving corps in 2016.
The Jaguars visit the Saints next week.
