A pair of teams each moving in the wrong direction meet Wednesday night, when the Los Angeles Clippers travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks.

The Knicks, losers of seven of their last 10 games on the court, are turning into a reality show off of it, while the Clippers have gone 2-6 since losing Chris Paul to a broken left thumb.

Clippers vs. Knicks Prediction

Though Paul serves as the ever-important engine of this offense, his absence has been felt even more on the defensive side of the ball. In the eight games since he was sidelined, the Clips are giving up a comical 120.0 points per 100 possessions, three more than the next worst team during that stretch.

Moreover, when Raymond Felton–Paul’s replacement in the starting lineup–is on the court, that number drops to 124.8 points, which is second worst among all players averaging at least 10 minutes per game.

That said, since Paul was injured, the Clips have had to face the Raptors, the Celtics, the Warriors twice, the Hawks, the Nuggets, the Suns and the 76ers.

Of those teams, only the Suns, Hawks and Sixers have a worse offensive rating than the Knicks, and the Clippers beat the Suns and the Hawks without Paul.

Ultimately, you’re likely going to see a lot of scoring and very little defense in this one, and in a matchup of that nature, the Clips–even without Paul–still have enough offensive firepower to out-pace the falling-apart Knicks.

Prediction: Clippers 117, Knicks 109
