Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks saw their season come to an end in embarrassing fashion against the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, losing by a final score of 56-22.
Now that the season is over for Oregon, Lanning and company have a lot of areas that need to be addressed during the offseason.
One of the big needs for the Ducks comes at the quarterback position. With Dante Moore expected to be a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Oregon will need to add someone in the transfer portal.
Keeping that in mind, a new crystal ball prediction has been made for the Ducks. That prediction involves the program landing one of the most popular players in the portal.
According to CBS Sports college football insiders Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer on January 11, Oregon has been predicted to be the landing spot for Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola.
“Have teamed with @chris_hummer in placing Crystal Ball predictions in favor of Oregon to land former Nebraska star QB Dylan Raiola,” Zenitz wrote on X.
Oregon Ducks Would Be Getting Huge Potential in Dylan Raiola
Raiola has gone viral on multiple occasions for looking similar to Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He also carries himself very similarly to Mahomes on the field.
While the comparisons to Mahomes have been made, Raiola has let to live up to the hype fully on the field.
During his first two years with the Cornhuskers to begin his career, Raiola has completed 69.1 percent of his pass attempts for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.
Unfortunately, Raiola saw his 2025 season come to an end prematurely. He suffered a broken fibula to his lower right leg back on November 1 against the USC Trojans.
Landing with the Ducks would be a fantastic destination for Raiola. Playing for Lanning would give him the best possible chance to unlock his full potential.
What Has Oregon Done in the Transfer Portal So Far?
The transfer portal has been a much bigger deal this season than in years past. Oregon will have to play the game of the portal to come back as a contender next season.
So far, Lanning and company have seen quite a few players enter the portal. Among those players are defensive backs Jahlil Florence, Sione Laulea, Kingston Lopa, and Solomon Davis. Also, running back Makhi Hughes, wide receiver Kyler Kasper, running back Jay Harris, and defensive back Daylen Austin entered the portal as well.
Lanning will need to get aggressive in the transfer portal to help fill some of the gaps.
Bringing in Raiola would fill the biggest void that the Ducks could have in 2026. Oregon would be betting on being able to develop him, but the raw talent is there for him to be a special quarterback.
Expect to continue hearing more news about the Ducks as the portal moves forward. The window will close for players to make their decisions on January 16. In that time period, Lanning and Oregon will likely be very active as the program looks to rebounding from losing to Indiana.
