The Cologuard Classic returns this week with a star-studded field of golf legends and former major champions set to compete at La Paloma Country Club. The tournament is one of the most popular stops on the PGA Tour Championsschedule and regularly draws some of the biggest names in the sport.
The event features a 78-player field, with competitors qualifying through a variety of categories including the prior year’s Charles Schwab Cup standings, PGA Tour victories, lifetime money lists, and sponsor exemptions. Many of the players in the field are former PGA Tour stars who have transitioned to the Champions circuit after turning 50.
With several major champions, Ryder Cup players, and longtime fan favorites teeing it up, the 2026 edition of the Cologuard Classic promises another competitive week in the Arizona desert.

Past Champions in the 2026 Field
The Cologuard Classic field for 2026 includes eight past champions, adding another layer of intrigue to the tournament in Tucson.
Former winners scheduled to compete include Alker (2025), Durant (2024), Toms (2023), Jiménez (2022), Sutherland (2021), Langer (2020), Lehman (2017), and Austin (2016), according to Golfweek.
The tournament will also feature each of the three winners on the PGA Tour Champions schedule so far in 2026, including Cink, the reigning Charles Schwab Cup champion, along with Toms and Johnson.
Johnson enters the week looking to build on an impressive debut season on the senior circuit. The former major champion won his first event after turning 50 at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational, becoming the 22nd golfer to win in his Champions Tour debut.
Now Johnson has a chance to accomplish something even rarer by winning his first two Champions Tour starts. Only Phil Mickelson has managed that feat, capturing victories in his first two events after joining the tour in 2020.
