Three years before welcoming their daughter, Poppy, 5, in August 2020, McIlroy and Stoll went all out for their wedding weekend. After they started dating in 2015, McIlroy proposed in 2016, and they married a year later.
The six-time major champion and Stoll tied the knot at Ashford Castle in Ireland in front of over 200 guests that included Chris Martin, Jamie Dornan, Ed Sheeran, and Niall Horan. Security was incredibly tight, and very few photos emerged from the lavish affair.
The star-studded event cost around $1.2 million, per Golfweek. According to the New York Post, the fireworks alone cost $64,000. The legendary Stevie Wonder reportedly performed for the newlyweds with an 18-piece band.
“The thing I love about it is that we were friends before anything romantic happened,” McIlroy told the Irish Sunday Independent in 2017. “We met when she was working for the PGA of America and renting a condo in Palm Beach, and I found it refreshing being with someone who was living a normal life rather than, ‘Oh! My jet is 30 minutes late!’
“I could speak to her about anything, we ended up spending a bit of time together and realized that there was something more there.”
