During their series with the Yankees, news came out that a former Braves player had elected free agency from the Seattle Mariners.
MLB.com wrote (on August 7): “CF Stuart Fairchild elected free agency.”
Fairchild has played 15 games for the Guardians and Mariners this season.
He had been coming off a year where he appeared in 28 games for the Braves.

Fairchild was picked in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
He has also spent time with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants over six seasons at the MLB level.
The 30-year-old is batting .221 with 135 hits, 18 home runs, 69 RBIs, 95 runs and 27 stolen bases in 292 games.
It will be interesting to see if Fairchild gets picked up before the end of the 2026 season.

They have gone 8-2 over their last ten games (and are 31-27 in 58 games on the road).
Following one more game in the Bronx, the Braves will return home to host the New York Mets on Monday night at Truist Park.
