Chicago Cubs Announce Ben Brown Update During Mariners Series

On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs will look to avoid getting swept by the Seattle Mariners in Washington.

They have lost each of the first two games in the series, most recently dropping Saturday’s game by a score of 5-4.

The Cubs continue to be without Ben Brown.

He has been out since June 19 with an injury.

During their series with the Mariners, the Cubs announced the latest update on Brown.

MLB.com wrote (on August 22): “Faced hitters in a live BP session on Aug. 21 in Arizona. Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Brown will face hitters again this coming week. If things go well, a Minor League rehab assignment could follow.”

According to the site, Brown is still supposed to return to MLB action in September.

Before getting hurt, he had gone 4-2 with a 1.85 ERA in 20 games (eight starts).

Brown was picked in the 33rd round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

He is in the middle of his third season at the MLB level (all with the Cubs).

The Cubs are currently the second-place team in the National League Central with a 74-56 record in 130 games.

They have gone 4-6 over their last ten games (and are 36-29 in 65 games on the road).

After the Mariners, the Cubs will visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night in Phoenix.
