Kelenic was the sixth pick in the 2018 MLB Draft by the New York Mets.

In 2021, he was ranked as the fourth-best prospect in all of baseball.

Before his MLB debut, Kelenic was traded to the Seattle Mariners.

@StoolBaseball wrote (on December 1, 2022): “On this day in 2018 the Mets acquired Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano for Jarred Kelenic, Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, and Gerson Bautista.”

Kelenic played three seasons for the Mariners.

His best year came in 2023 when he batted .253 with 11 home runs, 49 RBI’s, 44 runs and 13 stolen bases in 105 games.

Following the Mariners, the 26-year-old spent the last two seasons playing for the Atlanta Braves.

Over 407 career games, the 26-year-old is batting .211 with 49 home runs, 156 RBI’s, 161 runs and 31 stolen bases.

Kelenic had been playing well in the Minor Leagues this season.

@TripleAJeff of FutureSox wrote (on April 28): “Jarred Kelenic is red-hot, including a week in which he hit 4 HRs in 4 consecutive days. After batting practice today, we talked about what has changed. Kelenic, 26, is a former first-round draft pick of the Mets who has had over 1,300 at bats in the past 5 seasons with the Mariners and the Braves, with modest results given his pedigree.”
