San Francisco Giants Make Starting Pitcher Change
Right-handed reliever JT Brubaker will start Friday’s bullpen game for the Giants, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
San Francisco has rarely used a bullpen game this season. But the Giants are now thin in the rotation after a season-ending injury to Trevor McDonald. The team also traded Robbie Ray to the San Diego Padres and Tyler Mahle to the Atlanta Braves before Monday’s deadline.
The Giants called up four pitchers from Triple-A Sacramento after Monday’s trade deadline moves. But only right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell got an opportunity to start thus far. Tidwell pitched well in Tuesday’s 5-4 loss. He threw 5 innings, giving up 2 runs and striking out 3 Rangers batters.
San Francisco’s starting rotation now consists of Logan Webb, Landen Roupp, Carson Whisenhunt and Blade Tidwell. Veteran pitcher Adrian Houser was part of the Opening Day rotation, but was moved to the bullpen after his struggles.
