The San Francisco Giants concluded a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
The Giants got swept by the Red Sox after losing Sunday’s game 5-4. It marked their seventh consecutive series loss.
San Francisco returns home after a 1-5 road trip to take on the Cincinnati Reds. However, the Giants will be without their rookie slugger for the three-game series.
Giants’ Bryce Eldridge Placed on Bereavement List Ahead of Reds Series
The Giants will place rookie first baseman/designated hitter Bryce Eldridge on the bereavement list prior to Monday’s series against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Rubin wrote: “Eldridge, 21, will attend his grandfather’s funeral in his home state Virginia. He is expected to be out a minimum of three days.”

The former Giants top prospect will miss all three games against the Reds after coming off a solid series against the Red Sox.
Eldridge went 4-for-11 with 2 RBIs and 2 walks at Fenway Park.
Bryce Eldridge This Season
The tall 6-foot-7-inch hitter is putting up an impressive rookie campaign thus far.
Eldridge made his debut with the big league club this season on May 4 after spending the early part of the year in Triple-A Sacramento.
The first baseman/designated hitter is currently slashing .252/.346/.435 for a .781 OPS. He also has 14 home runs and 35 RBIs in 87 games this season.
His 14 HRs are fourth on the team.
The left-handed hitter looks to be a big part of the Giants’ future moving forward.

What’s Next for the Giants
The Giants will start a seven-game homestand on Monday against the Reds. Left-handed pitcher Carson Whisenhunt is expected to make the start for the Giants.
Veteran Adrian Houser and Landen Roupp are the probable pitchers for Tuesday and Wednesday’s matchups.
San Francisco will then host NL West rival Arizona Diamondbacks for a four-game series. It will be the last series against the Diamondbacks this season.
The Giants currently hold a 52-78 record and need to win at least 11 of their last 32 games to avoid a 100-loss season.
