On Friday, the San Francisco Giants opened up a series with the Detroit Tigers at Oracle Park in California.
The Giants won by a score of 5-2.

SF Giants Announced Mayer News
Ahead of their series with the Tigers, the Giants announced the latest update on Marcelo Mayer.
He has been out since June 25 with an injury.
MLB.com wrote (on August 7): “Will participate in full baseball activity this weekend and could begin a rehab assignment next week.”
Mayer had been traded to the Giants (via the Boston Red Sox) earlier this week.
The SF Giants wrote (via X) on August 3: “The #SFGiants and Boston Red Sox completed a trade today with IF Marcelo Mayer joining the Giants in exchange for LHP Erik Miller and minor league OF Carlos Gutierrez.”
Looking At Mayer
Mayer was the 4th pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
He has spent part of two seasons at the MLB level (all with the Red Sox).
The 23-year-old is currently batting .220 with 45 hits, three home runs, 22 RBIs, 19 runs and three stolen bases in 70 games this year.
SF Giants Right Now
The Giants have had a very tough season despite a notable roster.
They are currently the fourth-place team in the National League West with a 49-67 record in 116 games.
Following two more games with the Tigers, the Giants will remain at home to host Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros on Monday night at Oracle Park.
