On Friday evening, the Dallas Mavericks will host the Memphis Grizzlies in Texas.
The Mavs are coming off a 130-121 loss to the Sacramento Kings (at home).
Klay Thompson finished the game with eight points, two rebounds, two assists and one block while shooting 3/7 from the field and 2/3 from three-point range in 16 minutes of playing time.

UPDATE: The Mavs lost to the Grizzlies by a score of 124-105.
For Friday’s game, the Mavs will be without Thompson, as the they have made the decision to rule him out for rest.

Thompson is in his second season playing for the Mavs.
The future Hall of Famer is currently averaging 11.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 38.7% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range in 53 games.
Last season, Thompson and the Mavs lost to the Grizzlies in the play-in tournament.

At 36, Thompson is an intriguing spot with the Mavs.
He signed with the franchise to play next to Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
That said, Irving is hurt (and Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers).

The Mavs are currently the 12th seed in the Western Conference with a 21-37 record in 58 games.
They have won just two out of their last ten games (and are 14-17 in 31 at home).
After the Grizzlies, the Mavs will remain at home to host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.

As for the Grizzlies, they are also among the worst teams in the Western Conference.
They are the 11th seed with a 21-36 record in 57 games (and in the middle of a three-game losing streak).
Following the Mavs, the Grizzlies will play their next game on Sunday when they visit the Indiana Pacers.
