The New York Knicks already have both Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns listed on the injury report for their upcoming game against the Indiana Pacers, and now, Jeremy Sochan is also at risk of missing the Friday night contest.

Recently, Sochan was added to the Knicks’ injury report with an illness, as he’s now listed as doubtful for the contest against Indiana.

In 10 games with New York since he was acquired after the trade deadline, Sochan is averaging only 1.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists on 50% shooting in 5.3 minutes.

While Sochan’s status becoming doubtful for the Knicks on Friday night might not seem like big news, it could mean new roster changes, as both Hart and Towns are also listed as doubtful for the contest.

Hart is dealing with a lingering knee injury that kept him out of New York’s previous game against the Utah Jazz. He’s faced several injuries this season, but in 54 games, he is averaging 11.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on 46.5% shooting as a key player in this Knicks lineup.

Towns is facing a knee injury himself that puts his status up in the air for the game against Indiana,  officially listed on the injury report as ‘bilateral knee soreness.’

The center left the team’s previous game against Utah with an undisclosed injury, and although he eventually returned, his injury status for Friday remains undetermined. In 63 games for the Knicks this season, Towns is putting up 20 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists on 49.3% shooting.

Miles McBride is also listed on New York’s injury report as ‘out’ while he recovers from surgery he underwent in early February. A recent injury update from Ian Begley signals his recovery is going well, but the guard still has no timeline for a return.

Jordan Clarkson Could Return To Rotation After Big Game

With the possibility of Sochan, Hart, and Towns all missing the game versus the Pacers on Friday, the Knicks could bring back Jordan Clarkson into a heavier role in the rotation. While a key offseason signing, the 33-year-old fell out of the lineup after the trade deadline.

However, that changed against the Jazz, as back playing his former team, Mike Brown gave Clarkson 26 minutes of action, his most since late-December.

The backup guard then went off for a season-high 27 points on 10/15 shooting, while also recording five rebounds and three assists in the win.

While his breakout game might have felt surprising in the moment, Knicks head coach said that his minutes were a part of a pre-game plan for the team, offered up by assistant coach and former NBA star Mo Cheeks.

“It was funny because Mo Cheeks — he’s been awesome,” Brown said postgame. “All my guys have been awesome, but Mo said to me earlier today, ‘We’ve got to find a way to throw Jordan in the game because he can have a big one for us tonight. We may need it.’”

New York has had an up-and-down season to say the least, and while they are still near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, finding players like Clarkson to contribute on any given night will be a major factor in the team having postseason success. Landry Shamet has done his part so far this year, but with the inconsistencies plaguing the Knicks, having a player like Clarkson being able to drop 20+ points certainly helps.

New York is currently 42-25, but they’ve lost three of their last five as they hope to find a groove before the postseason begins.
