Heading into the 2026 NFL offseason, there was just one clear goal for the Detroit Lions and head coach Dan Campbell. They wanted to get back to being legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Just two years ago, the Lions were arguably the best team in the NFL. Unfortunately, they fell apart in their first playoff game and lost at home to the Washington Commanders.

Despite that loss, Detroit was expected to be a top contender last season. That wasn’t the case, as the Lions finished third in the NFC North division and missed the playoffs.

So far, the team has made a few nice additions. Detroit has brought in pieces like running back Isiah Pacheco, center Cade Mays, and cornerback Roger McCreary. There are still areas that could be improved before the 2026 season arrives.

One of those potential needs will be finding a legitimate long-term pass rushing partner to place alongside of Aidan Hutchinson.

Detroit Lions Predicted to Land Dynamic Pass Rusher

A new prediction has been made about a potential pass rushing option for the Lions.

Shane Hallam of DraftSharks has predicted that Detroit will select Clemson pass rusher T.J. Parker with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“The Lions have struggled to find an impact pass rusher to join Aidan Hutchinson,” Hallam wrote. “Parker could fit with heavy hands and a strong bull rush. Parker sets the edge well and can help contain outside runners.”

Parker has become one of the top pass rushing prospects in the 2026 draft class. He put together a strong showing during his college career with the Tigers.

Throughout his three seasons at Clemson, Parker racked up 127 total tackles to go along with 21.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and three defended passes. He has shown flashes of being a potential star at the next level.

T.J. Parker Has Been Compared to Current NFL Star

What kind of player could Parker become at the NFL level? He has been compared to a longtime star pass rusher.

Bleacher Report has revealed their comparison for the Clemson standout. They think that he compares well to current Buffalo Bills defensive end Bradley Chubb.

Chubb has dealt with some injury issues throughout his career. However, he has been a star when he has been healthy. That comparison makes things a bit more interesting for teams interested in Parker.

Playing for a college team like the Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney is excellent experience. Parker should be ready to play in the NFL right off the bat.

Only time will tell if the Lions are indeed interested in drafting Parker in the first round. He would be a lethal fit alongside of Hutchinson, which is something Detroit needs to find.
