The Kansas City Chiefs kick off the 2025 NFL season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5, in São Paulo, Brazil.
Ahead of Kansas City’s home opener in Week 2, when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. host the Philadelphia Eagles, Arrowhead Stadium served as a neutral site for the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his fiancée, Taylor Swift, made their first public appearance post-engagement during the college game. Kelce proudly rocked Bearcats gear to support his alma mater. He played for Cincinnati from 2009 to 2012 before becoming the Chiefs‘ No. 63 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

Kelce’s older brother, Jason Kelce, a fellow Bearcat alumnus, also attended the matchup in Kansas City. Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, shared a suite with Swift, the Kelce brothers, and numerous other Chiefs players for the Week 1 college game.
While it’s hard to pull attention away from Swift and her 8-carat, old mine brilliant cut diamond ring, fans couldn’t help but marvel at Mahomes watching his look-alike fellow quarterback, Cornhuskers’ Dylan Raiola.
The second-year starter earned the “Baby Mahomes” nickname as he wears a No. 15 jersey, rocks a similar haircut to the three-time Super Bowl MVP, and even shares some the Chiefs star’s mannerisms.
Mahomes, 29, made an appearance on the sidelines before the game started and appeared to be locked in for Raiola’s season debut.

Raiola considers Mahomes a close mentor and one of his idols. The two even train together during the offseason. Therefore, questions lingered after cameras captured the 29-year-old quarterback and Brittany exiting the Nebraska game early.
With the Huskers up 20-17 and 7:15 left in regulation, Mahomes and Brittany said their goodbyes and walked out. After Bleacher Report posted a video of their exit on Instagram, he explained why the couple left early.
“Got to wake up with the kids in the morning my bad 😂😂,” Mahomes wrote.
Mahomes and Brittany share three children together, Sterling Skye, 4, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 2, and Golden Raye, 7 months. Before the regular season starts, he’s soaking up all the quality time he can with his kids.

Fans can expect to see Brittany in Brazil for the Chiefs-Chargers Week 1 showdown. According to a recent report, Swift, is also planning to be in São Paulo for the 2025 season opener.
Based on the first team’s performance during their preseason finale against the Chiefs Bears, Mahomes is even more pumped for the regular season to start.
“It shows all the hard work we’re putting in during training camp is paying off,” he told reporters. “This is a little step, but it’s a step in the right direction. We’re excited to now have two weeks to kind of prepare to face a really good defense in the Chargers.
