The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to climb out of an 0-2 hole against the New York Giants, and will likely do so without their good luck charm — Taylor Swift.
The singer and fiancée of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce did not officially say whether she planned to attend Sunday night’s game, but reports indicate that she will no longer be hitting the road to support her man. Swift has increased her security around stadium visits, even at Arrowhead Stadium, and has eliminated road visits entirely.
A report from Elle confirmed that Swift was not in attendance at MetLife Stadium for Sunday’s game.
Taylor Swift Tightening Up Her Security
There was plenty of speculation about Swift’s status for Sunday’s game, and the singer has traditionally not given advanced notice about her plans for Kelce’s games.
Swift did attend last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but was not spotted by cameras as stadium staff used a security screen to keep her protected — and unseen from the public. As TMZ reported at the time, the rolling screen was moved by security and stadium staff and added another layer of safety.
“We did some digging and it seems the barrier being used here is a bullet-resistant portable shield partition that retails for about $6,000,” the report noted.
While Swift’s status was up in the air leading up to Sunday’s game, NBC did their part to drum up attention. The network posted an image in the style of her countdown for her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”

Taylor Swift Has Skipped Road Games
Swift’s attendance habits changed after the 2023 season, her first together with Kelce as a couple. Reports indicated that she faced security concerns, starting with the team’s playoff win over the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park.
A report at the time noted that Swift would not be attending many games outside of Kansas City.
“If she is going to a place that isn’t Arrowhead, there are security concerns,” a source told the New York Post’s Page Six.
The report turned out to be accurate, with Swift skipping out on all of the Chiefs‘ road games in the 2024 season. She has yet to attend a road game this season, either.
But Swift has attended a game in the Meadowlands before. In Week 4 of the 2023 season, she watched Kelce and the Chiefs take down the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football. As NJ.com reported, she has also played the venue for a memorable show during the Eras Tour.
“Just a few months before, Swift had performed three sold-out shows at MetLife in May 2023 while on her Eras Tour. During the first show of the record-breaking run, 82,000 fans filled the stadium,” the report noted.
Kelce could use her attendance this week, with the Chiefs falling to 0-2 and desperate for a win. As the USA Today’s Nick Brinkeroff noted, Swift has been something of a good luck charm for the team since she and Kelce went official with their relationship.
The Chiefs were 9-1 during the 2024 season with Swift in the building, with the only loss coming in Super Bowl 59 to the Philadelphia Eagles,” Brinkeroff wrote. “Kansas City owns a 19-4 record all-time when she’s in the crowd.”
