Miami quarterback Carson Beck’s NFL draft status has been debated for multiple college football seasons. Back in December 2024, Beck initially announced plans to declare for the 2025 NFL draft.
Less than two months later, Beck entered the transfer portal and surprisingly remained in college football, bolting Georgia for Miami. Beck was once viewed as a potential No. 1 pick, but his final season with the Dawgs appeared to plummet his draft stock.
The signal-caller has done his best to resurrect his NFL draft interest this season with the Canes. Beck led Miami to the College Football Playoff and is generating some NFL draft buzz, even if it is not to the same heights that surrounded the quarterback ahead of the 2024 season.
Beck is no longer widely viewed as a first-round pick, but the quarterback could improve his stock during the pre-draft process. USA Today’s Curt Popejoy’s mock draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers has the team selecting Beck in the third round.
Let’s dive into the latest rumors on Beck’s NFL draft predictions.

Aaron Rodgers‘ future with the Steelers remains uncertain, and Beck would give Pittsburgh a promising quarterback who could at least compete for the starting gig. The Steelers also took a late-round flier on former Ohio State standout Will Howard in the 2024 NFL draft. Popejoy makes the case for Pittsburgh taking another chance on Beck as a “low risk/high reward” selection.
“We had high hopes for Beck this season and while he hasn’t made a huge leap, he’s (a) great low risk/high reward pick at this point in the draft,” Popejoy wrote in a December 18, 2025, story titled, “Breaking down the Steelers picks in a new Steelers four-round mock draft.”
Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.6 million contract with the Steelers and will be a free agent at the end of the NFL season. The star quarterback will turn 43 years old during the next NFL season.
PFF Ranks Miami QB Carson Beck as the No. 123 Prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft
Heading into the Cotton Bowl, Beck has thrown for 3,175 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing a career-high 74.5% of his passes in 13 appearances in 2025. Beck has been highly efficient in Miami, but there continues to be a concern about the star’s turnovers.
The quarterback has thrown a combined 22 interceptions over the last two seasons. Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema has Beck rated as his No. 123 ranked player on his 2026 NFL draft big board.
“Beck already looks like a pro in several areas,” Sikkema wrote in a December 29, story titled, “2026 NFL Draft Big Board: The top 315 draft prospects.” “He has NFL size, polished fundamentals and the ability to play from under center.
“He shows a solid understanding of defensive structure and consistently layers throws between zones with confidence. While he does have some concerning moments under pressure, that’s not uncommon. Beck has the tools to project as a potential starter the question is whether his consistency and upside are strong enough to warrant early draft capital.”
