It’s NHL trade deadline day. Teams across the league have until 3 p.m. EST on Friday to make final decisions on players. For the Carolina Hurricanes, there have been two major storylines this deadline season. First, the team is being linked as a top destination for New York Rangers’ forward Vincent Trocheck, and then also potentially adding another goaltender.
With it being Friday, there is some more clarity on those updates. The Hurricanes remain a team to keep a strong eye out for before 3:00 p.m.

What are the Hurricanes’ chances of Landing Vincent Trocheck?
Vincent Trocheck is a name that has steadily been linked to the Carolina Hurricanes over the past week, especially after Trocheck said he wanted to be moved to a contender in the Eastern Conference.
However, on Friday morning, a report surfaced that the Rangers will stand pat on Vincent Trockeck unless they are overwhelmed with an offer, and it doesn’t appear that Carolina would be willing to part with several assets to get a deal done.
Instead, the Hurricanes might focus on adding another top-six forward, but at a lower price point. At the time of writing this, the Hurricanes have yet to make a notable trade.
Another development over this deadline season is the Hurricanes’ potential in adding another goaltender. Carolina is rolling right now with Brandon Bussi leading the net, but Freddie Anderson has been kind of shaky. Adding another goalie, however, could possibly mess with the locker room chemistry. If Carolina were to go out and add one, Jordan Binnington and Joseph Woll might be options.

Who Might Carolina Trade if Any Deal is Done?
The Carolina Hurricanes also seem content with not shipping any of their top prospects, according to team reports, but draft picks are not off the table, and neither are current pieces of their roster.
It’s important to note that the Canes already have one of the best rotations in the NHL, so additions might not be at the forefront of the team’s front office right now.
But that’s pretty much it for the Hurricanes on the trade news front for now. Check back with Heavy on Hurricanes for more updates!
