The 2025 Japan Open semifinals are set, with top-ranked American Taylor Fritz set to face off with Jenson Brooksby, and world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz set to compete against Casper Ruud.
Fritz, who won the Japan Open in Tokyo back in 2022, is in pursuit of his second title at Ariake Coliseum after regaining the world No. 4 spot on the ATP’s live rankings earlier in the week.
Fritz has continued to impress in Tokyo, notably coming up big when he’s needed it most, defeating Gabriel Diallo, Nuno Borges, and most recently, Sebastian Korda.
On the flip side, Jenson Brooksby has been on an absolute tear in Tokyo, cruising past Holger Rune in straight sets during a quarterfinal showdown earlier in the week.
Brooksby, who is now up to No. 57 on the ATP live rankings, cruised past Ugo Humbert and Luciano Darderi in the first two rounds before punching his ticket to the semifinals with his win over Rune.

Jenson Brooksby Talks About Incredible Run in Tokyo
Since his run to the final in Eastbourne back in June, Jenson Brooksby has struggled to produce deep runs at Masters 1000 tournaments like the National Bank Open and the Cincinnati Open.
Despite that, the former world No. 33 has continued to impress in Tokyo.
Following his win over Holger Rune, the American spoke about the win, and his impressive run in Tokyo, during his on-court interview:
“Once I get on a roll from a couple of matches, I just think I’m really able to get into my zone. I think that’s one of my big strengths,. I don’t like to think about the records and stuff, but I think that shows.”
” … I had a good rhythm from the first two matches and thought I was playing really good tennis, and I think I just stayed a little bit more consistent today.”
