The Rockies optioned Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. After being recalled from Triple-A on Friday, Fulford didn't make any starts but appeared in three of the Rockies' ensuing five games, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run. He'll cede his spot on the active roster to utility man Tyler Freeman (back), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

Braxton Fulford: Breaking News
Summoned from minors
The Rockies recalled Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. He's taking the roster spot vacated by Mickey Moniak (finger). Fulford was beaten out by Brett Sullivan for the No. 2 catcher job in Colorado but will wind up making the Opening Day roster after all. With three catchers available, the Rockies could give Hunter Goodman more time at designated hitter while Moniak is shelved.
Sent to Triple-A
The Rockies optioned Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Fulford had a .591 OPS in 38 games with the Rockies last season but was unable to win the backup catcher job during spring training. The 27-year-old could get called up by the Rockies if Hunter Goodman or Brett Sullivan suffer an injury.
