Jordan Romano: Breaking News

Romano signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Romano began the season in the big leagues with the Angels but was released April 27 after allowing nine earned runs in just eight innings. He'll get another chance to prove himself with the Rockies, but he will first report to the team's complex in Arizona to iron out his mechanics.

Romano was released by the Angels on Monday, per MLB's transactions log. Romano lost his spot on the 40-man roster after being hit hard for four runs on three hits and one walk Saturday against Kansas City. He'll search for an opportunity elsewhere after being cut loose by Los Angeles.

The Angels designated Romano for assignment on Sunday. The veteran right-hander started the season strong with four saves and five scoreless frames in his first six outings, but the Angels have decided to cut him loose after giving up nine earned runs in his past five appearances. Romano had 8.23 ERA in 49 regular-season appearances for the Phillies in 2025 and may have a difficult time getting another look in the big leagues this year.
