Kyle Freeland: Breaking News

Freeland tossed 4.2 innings in Wednesday's 5-4 loss against the Rangers, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while taking a no-decision. He struck out five. Freeland could not make it through five innings Wednesday and has not made it past the fifth frame in any of his past five starts. All of the damage from Texas came during the fourth inning, when Ezequiel Duran and Jake Burger launched back-to-back long balls. Since coming off the injured list in late April, Freeland has lost four of his five appearances with a 10.32 ERA over 22.2 innings. The lefty is scheduled to make his next start against the Dodgers next week.

Freeland (1-5) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks across 3.2 innings. He struck out three. Freeland had a woeful outing Friday, and by the end of the first inning, he had already given up six runs. While Freeland settled down afterward, the damage was already done. The veteran southpaw enjoyed a strong start to the season, but the wheels have fallen off of late. This was the fourth straight outing in which he allowed at least four earned runs, posting an 11.50 ERA with a 2.17 WHIP and an 18:8 K:BB across 18 innings over that dreadful stretch. Freeland is scheduled to make his next start against the Rangers next week.

Freeland (1-4) took the loss Saturday against the Phillies, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out four. The 32-year-old southpaw poured in 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes, but he was perhaps a bit too haphazard in targeting the zone Saturday. It was the 13th time in his career that he was hit around for double-digit knocks, and Freeland has now given up at least four runs in three consecutive starts after yielding four altogether over his first three outings of 2026. He'll take a poor 6.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB across 30 innings into his next scheduled appearance versus Arizona.
